This Dog Bed Is a Dream Come True for Your Pup

Here at T&C, we pride ourselves on our discerning eye for quality. With Tried & True, our editors will give you an inside look at the pieces they simply cannot live without.

When you bring home a dog for the first time—no matter if they’re a puppy, an older dog, a rescue, or a foster—it can be overwhelming. What food do you need? What treats will they like? How will they adjust to their new space?

When I brought my dog home four years ago, I lived in a small, one bedroom apartment in Manhattan. She was a 12 week old puppy, and my husband and I planned to crate train her. We weren’t thinking too much about dog beds—for many dogs, their crate is their only bed. But, a few months later, we realized she was totally fine outside her crate and decided to transition to a bed.

The Dog Bed

Enter Casper’s dog bed. The mattress company launched the bed eight years ago, after hearing from their customers that dogs were sleeping on their Casper mattress. “We started getting customers sending us photos of their dogs on the Casper mattress early on, and a lot of requests from people for us to make a dog mattress,” Casper’s co-founder, Jeff Chapin, said at the time. “It took a lot of iterations on the prototypes to get something as durable as we wanted and as comfortable as we wanted.”

That design includes a removable cover for washing, which is especially key if your dog is prone to accidents, or brings the outdoors inside with them. According to Casper, the cover is made of “one of the strongest bonded microfibers available,” featuring “excess material on top mimicking the sensation of pawing at loose earth.” My dog especially loves to dig on the bed before she settles in for the evening, and it has proven tough and durable that she hasn’t been able to rip it in nearly four years.

The bed is made of layered memory foam and support foam, making it firm and comfortable for dogs. It comes in three sizes: Small (for dogs up to 30 pounds), medium (for dogs up to 60 pounds), and large (for dogs up to 90 pounds), and in gray, sand, or blue, all neutral to fit into any space in your home.

While on many nights my dog starts the evening in my (human) bed, she always ends up on her Casper bed for a good night’s sleep.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
