This $2 Hanger Hack Helped Me Effortlessly Store 20 Handbags in My Tiny Closet

I live in a Tudor-style home built in the 1930s, so finding proper closet space for my personal belongings feels like a constant uphill battle. I’ve had to become more strategic with my storage, so I reserve my home office closet for my expanding collection of purses and shoes. While going through my belongings a few months back, I noticed some of my most beloved bags had new dings, bent and worn handles, and misshapen bodies—a result of poor storage.

Desperate to save my purses, from new designer bags to prized thrift store finds, a quick Amazon search led me to the Tincogo four-pack of Purse Hangers for just $8. I originally bought two packs of four to try them out and ended up buying three more.

The curved hangers are constructed with thick, durable gray acrylic and can hold up to 30 pounds. I only use them to store my empty handbags, which don’t come close to 30 pounds, but the robust design feels anything from flimsy, so I’m sure you could hang heavier items securely on them.

My closet has two metal rods on each side, but I hadn’t noticed that they were squared. Luckily, the rounded hooks still fit on them perfectly; I just had to maneuver them around the sharp edges of the rod, but they sat steady. The hooks are compact, measuring at just 4.3 inches high, so I could easily fit 20 bags into my cramped closet. There’s even a little extra room for a couple more if I strategically hang some of my bags from top handles and long straps to maximize the available space.

Every style of bag I own works with the hangers: Travel totes, mini bags, boho satchels, and even wristlets fit comfortably. Plus, this method still left me with plenty of space at the bottom of my closet to line up my shoes for easy access. I mostly appreciate the slightly curved silhouette of the hanger, since it helps maintain the natural shape of the straps and handles of my bags.

Other shoppers have also raved about the innovative little tool. One five-star reviewer joked, “Where have these been all my life?” They also admitted, “My husband snagged one for his backpack, and he’s a fan also.” Another shopper called them a “must-have,” explaining, “They are extra wide to protect your straps.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
