Third-period rally pushes Ice Dogs past Kam River in Game 2

DRYDEN – A pair of goals two minutes apart in the third period may have saved the Dryden Ice Dogs championship hopes.

Down 1-0 in Game 2 and in danger of losing the first two games of the best-of-seven Bill Salonen Cup final on home ice, the Ice Dogs rallied to pull out a 2-1 win over the Kam River Fighting Walleye.

Carson Devine evened the score at a goal apiece on the power play at 10:55 of the third, and less than two minutes later Eli Antoine potted the go-ahead goal, ensuring at least one more game on home ice, tying the series 1-1.

Sam Sargent had given the Fighting Walleye, who won Game 1 6-2 on Saturday night, a 1-0 lead.

Noah Davis, who took over between the pipes midway through Game 1 after SIJHL goaltender of the year Kellan Mooney was chased after Kam Rivers fifth goal of the night, made 28 saves to earn the win.

Ashton Sadauskas stopped 20 of 22 shots in taking the loss.

The Ice Dogs and Fighting Walleye, who finished 1-2 in the SIJHL standings, will tangle in Game 3 on Wednesday night at the Norwest Arena. Game time is 7  p.m.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
