‘They’re eating the dogs’ became Trump’s most laughable line from the debate

They’re eating the dogs” became Donald Trump’s most laughable line out of Tuesday’s debate, where he took a brutal beating from Kamala Harris.

The social media memes and Facebook users marking themselves “safe from pet eating” summed up Trump’s disastrous performance against a formidable opponent who got him riled up on just about everything.

At one point when Harris mocked him about people leaving his rallies, Trump went off on a rant about pet-eating migrants, repeating a lie that Haitians in Ohio are stealing their neighbors’ pets and turning them into meals.

“They’re eating the dogs, the people that came in. They’re eating the cats. They’re eating the pets of the people that live there,” Trump said, referring to the false claims that he and his running mate, JD Vance, have been spreading in recent days.

Trump targeting migrants isn’t laughable

Harris shook her head and laughed, calling it part of Trump’s “extreme” rhetoric.

Here’s the thing, though. Trump may have looked unhinged, but he knew he was throwing a bone to his MAGA cult. They believe anything that comes out of his mouth. And migrants have always been the easiest target to exploit.

That’s not laughable.

Don’t forget that Trump kicked off his first presidential bid by calling Mexicans criminals and rapists and promising to build the border wall at Mexico’s expense (Mexico never paid for it, of course).

Don’t forget that Trump, when he was president in 2018, referred to Haiti and African nations as “s—hole” countries and lamented why America doesn’t get more people from nations like Norway instead.

Trump aims to take:Arizona immigration law nationwide

Haiti’s political upheaval has prompted many to seek refuge in America, and some 20,000 of them have reportedly made Ohio their home.

Ohio authorities have disputed the pet-eating claims, saying there’s no proof of that happening. That doesn’t matter to Trump and Vance. They want to keep the MAGA cult angry and afraid of foreigners, especially the brown and Black ones.

How do we end this ‘eating dogs’ nonsense?

Since the beginning, Trump’s been obsessed with Making America White Again. This migrant pet-eating thing is nothing more than a line in his playbook toward that goal, which also includes mass deportations if he returns to the White House.

It’s pointless to argue Trump’s intentions. He means to dehumanize foreigners and expel all undocumented immigrants, even if that means hurting America’s industries that rely on that labor.

This isn’t about Trump and MAGA anymore. It’s about us and what we do to end the cult and its obsession with “eating dogs,” “childless cat ladies” and whatever animal nonsense they seize next.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
