You’ll be pleased to know that, as more and more retailers join the discounting scrum, this year’s Black Friday handbag deals are likely to be better than ever, with stores and e-tailers poised to bestow you with discounts on that entire shopping list.

Forget faffing around in the internet’s underskirts looking for discount codes, coupons and vouchers in the hopes of inching that little bit closer to an Alaïa Teckel. A whole host of amazing retailers are likely to put on major Black Friday sales this year, so your next designer handbag purchase could well be just around the corner.

When is Black Friday 2024?

This year, Black Friday falls on November 29, 2024, with many retailers maintaining – and even increasing – their offers all the way through to Cyber Monday, on December 2. With the date getting ever closer, now is the time to start prepping your wishlist.

In the lead up to Christmas, major brands take the opportunity to slash their prices by up to 80% (yes, we’ve seen it!). Even resale platforms have begun to get in on the action, with second-hand purchases coming in at even better prices. These days, the Black Friday sales are a much bigger deal than even the traditional Boxing Day sales. And often the best items will have long sold out before Christmas, so waiting for Boxing Day to snap up your dream bag could be a big mistake.

Mytheresa was the sleeper hit of Black Friday fashion deals last year, and it’ll be the first place we click onto once November 29 rolls around. Last year, we scored designer steals from the likes of The Row, Ganni and Coperni at up to 70% off – yes, seriously. For the 2024 event, we’ve got our eyes on statement bags from the likes of Bottega Veneta, Prada and Gucci, and there are already some great deals to be had on the site. The Outnet already involves discounted designer fare, but last year the past-season e-tailer deepened its year-round discounts even further, offering shoppers an additional 25% discount on the entire site. Who’s ready for round two?

Aspinal’s Black Friday event involved up to 50% off the entire collection in 2022, so here’s hoping for something on the same scale this year. The brand is loved by countless royals and A-listers – Kate Middleton favours the Madison tote, while Gigi Hadid has carried the Midi Mayfair – and November is the best time of year to invest in one of these forever bag.

Farfetch

Last year, at least one member of the ELLE UK fashion team bagged a JW Anderson Bumper bag at 50% off via Farfetch, so we’ll be hot-footing it to the site this November once again in search of similar steals. The reductions reached 50% in 2023, with a further 20% discount dropping towards the end of the sale.

Selfridges

Selfridges doesn’t technically take part in Black Friday, but for the past few years the iconic department store has treated customers to a conveniently well-timed ‘Christmas Comes Early’ sale, that falls over the weekend in question. LuisaViaRoma is an e-tailer to take serious note of ahead of Black Friday, as past years have seen discounts of 40% as well as surprise flash reductions on top of that throughout the weekend.
