See county shelter dogs take flight from Camarillo Airport
Ventura County Animal Services staff loaded 37 dogs onto a plane at the Camarillo Airport Tuesday for a flight to a Wisconsin shelter.

The Greenville Humane Society is asking the community for help as its shelter struggles with overcapacity.
“This is urgent. There is no time,” the animal protection organization posted on Facebook. “Crates are lining our hallways. Adoptions are down. Intake is up. We’re doing our best to say yes, but we have no room.”
Underneath the post, the society shared pictures of overcrowding in the shelter. Dogs could be seen peeking up through the bars of crates lining the halls, looking forlorn. Each crate was filled with a blanket and bowl.

How many dogs need to be adopted from the shelter this week?
Fifty-seven dogs need to be adopted from the shelter this week. This will help get the shelter back down to a manageable capacity.
“We’re short staffed. We’re exhausted. We’re doing the best we can. But we need help,” said the society’s post.

How much does it cost to adopt a dog?
All dogs ages 4 months and older cost $50 to adopt.
How can I help if I can’t adopt a dog?
If you are unable to adopt a dog, you may want to consider fostering one from the shelter. The society will provide those interested with everything they will need to care for the eligible healthy foster.
“Now is the time to step up. It’s the time to save lives. And we can’t do it without you,” said the society.

The Papa John’s Mutt Strut presented by NexGard will be benefiting the Greenville Humane Society on Saturday, April 26 at 8:30 a.m. Registered participants will enjoy a 2-mile walk/run through downtown Greenville. Afterward, the Mutt Market festival and “after party” will begin on South Main Street featuring live music, free pizza from Papa John’s, caricature artists, face painters, and sponsor tents with giveaways.
