Therapy dogs give Mount Saint Mary students a chance to ‘paws’ and relax

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – A group of therapy dogs offered a stress-relieving break on Wednesday, March 5 to Mount Saint Mary College students preparing for midterms.

According to research, spending time with, petting, or observing animals can reduce heart rate and blood pressure and lower stress.

The dogs were provided by Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause, whose mission is to help those in need of emotional support of any kind. The organization’s founder, Judy Audevard adopted Kizzy from the NY Bichon Rescue in 2004 to help her beloved mother recover from a stroke.

At the college, the popular event has evolved into a tradition. This event took place at Mount’s Kaplan Family Library and Learning Center, which co-sponsored the event with Counseling Services, Disability Services, Student Activities, and the Student Health and Wellness Center.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
