(MARYVILLE, Mo.) Nodaway County Humane Society (NCHS) is one of the many animal shelters around the area struggling with overcrowding in their shelters.
Funding and donations are helping these shelters scrape by and make it possible to provide the essential care for the animals left in their care, but with the increase of animals being abandoned by their past owner or being dropped off at the shelter, they are finding it even more difficult to continue taking in animals due to the lack of funds and room available.
Many animal shelters are using donations to pay for the care of these animals but with the rising prices in food and vet bills, they are finding it hard to keep up.
