SAN ANTONIO – A far west Bexar County teenager accused of dragging a dog — then shooting and killing it — did not own that animal, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Michael Christopher George, 17, was arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident, which allegedly happened on Dec. 29, 2024.
The affidavit stated that the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance in a neighborhood not far from Wiseman Road and Westcreek Oaks Drive.
Deputies spoke to two neighbors who both reported hearing gunshots coming from a wooded area nearby, then questioned George, who admitted to them that he shot and killed a dog, according to the affidavit.
Both neighbors told investigators that George said he did it because the animal had bitten a relative.
Deputies searched the wooded area and found the dog dead from multiple gunshot wounds, along with three shell casings and a bullet, the affidavit stated.
The court document states a neighbor was also able to provide surveillance video that showed George, before the shooting, riding a motorcycle in the area while dragging the dog behind it.
Deputies said they also spoke to a woman in the same neighborhood who told them that George had been checking on the dog for her while she was out of town for the holidays.
In the affidavit, they said the teen convinced her that the dog had behavioral problems and that he could help her re-home the animal.
The affidavit states George left the home with the dog and then killed it.
When deputies questioned him later at his home a few miles away, they said George initially lied and told them he had given away the dog to someone else.
They said he eventually admitted to shooting the dog and then tossing the gun into Medina Lake.
George was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center on Thursday and later released on bond.
KSAT 12 spoke with a relative at his home Friday morning who declined to comment on camera.
However, the relative said he wanted to make it clear that his family is sorry about what happened and that the incident does not reflect their values.
