The Tazewell County 4-H Dog Club recently presented $140 to the Tazewell County Animal Shelter to sponsor the adoption of four dogs.
The members voted to use their winnings from the Virginia Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Program Hay Bale decorating contest, which they won last fall. The children also took toys, treats, food and blankets which they had been collecting through the year, according to Elizabeth Smith, 4-H Dog Club leader.
Members also toured the Tazewell County Animal Shelter and had an opportunity to learn about the adoption process and how the animals are cared for.
Tazewell County Animal Shelter is a small rural facility in the southwest of Virginia. All dogs and cats are available for adoption, foster and rescue.
