LYNDHURST, Va. (WHSV) – The Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center is holding a name-your-price adoption promotion called “Spread the Love.”
Claire Rattan, the shelter’s outreach coordinator, said the shelter was not getting as many strays when it was cold, but that has since changed with more intake.
“We have many dogs on our floor that have been there a long time with virtually no interest,” Rattan said.
Rattan said to not judge a book by its cover and research dog breeds beforehand.
“Dogs will act differently inside of the kennels than they do outside the kennels,” Rattan said. “We have got a lot of good dogs over here and [it] seems like people aren’t really giving them a chance.”
Rattan said you can meet a dog after your application is approved. She recommended submitting an application two days in advance to allow time to get approved for adoption.
The promotion applies to dogs at least six months old and cats at least a year old. The promotion started Monday and will end Saturday.
