Two male suspects burglarized a residence in the 600 block of South Hudson Street in Hancock Park on May 29 and stole jewelry and designer handbags valued at $200,000, police said.
The burglary was reported at approximately 7:15 p.m. A housekeeper at the residence, who had been cleaning a pool house in the backyard, returned to the main house and saw broken glass outside a rear door to the residence. The housekeeper also found the resident’s dog scratching its face after being pepper sprayed, and heard noises inside the home. The housekeeper called police and the SSA Security Group, a private security company. Before officers arrived, the suspects fled through a front door and gate, according to the housekeeper.
Authorities reviewed security camera footage from the property and saw two male suspects wearing black hooded sweatshirts and clothing fleeing from the residence. The suspects, who were carrying large white bags, entered a dark colored vehicle that was waiting nearby and fled north on Hudson Street toward Sixth Street. Lt. Mark Ro, with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Wilshire Division, identified the vehicle as a black four-door Toyota Camry.
It is unclear if the burglary was connected to any other crimes in the area, and no further information was available.
