
TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A man was taken to jail Friday morning after he allegedly stabbed another man with a shank during an argument in Tempe.
Officers responded to the reported stabbing at the Tempe Town Lake walking path near Mill Avenue and Rio Salado Parkway around 5 a.m. on Friday.
An initial investigation found that two men were walking on the path, one of whom with two unleashed dogs. The suspect reportedly confronted that man about not leashing the dogs, leading to an argument.
Police said that during the argument, the suspect pulled out a shank and stabbed the other man in the neck. The suspect then ran away while being followed by the stabbing victim. Another argument ensued, and police said the suspect then stabbed the victim two more times in the forehead.
The argument continued until officers got to the scene. The man who was stabbed received minor injuries and was not taken to the hospital.
The suspect was taken to jail on charges of aggravated assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.
