NewsChannel 13 learned that a structure fire happened Sunday morning in Glens Falls, leaving the house with significant damage. Three dogs also passed away from the fire.
The call came in around 9 a.m. to 21 Western Avenue.
Officials tell NewsChannel 13 that the occupants of the home were not there at the time of the fire.
Authorities say that one of the residents emptied ash into a kitchen garbage, possibly not realizing there were still hot embers.
Fire officials tell us there were no other injuries, and the fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes.
They add that the house is not livable at this time.
The American Red Cross says they are assisting two people after this fire, by providing them with financial assistance and emotional support throughout the coming days.
The Red Cross says one of the residents is eligible for Veterans’ services.
