A heartbreaking yet hopeful rescue mission has captured the attention of TikTok users after a tourist intervened to save a mother dog and her puppies during a trip to Djerba, Tunisia.
Chloe (@petsfromchloe) documented the emotional journey on TikTok, where the video has received over 120,000 views and more than 9,300 likes. In the clip, Chloe shares how the stray mother dog led them to a litter of puppies struggling in the heat.
“One day we decided to follow her and she led us to them. The first thing we saw a lifeless pup … In her nest were four beautiful pups, but the heat was unbearable and they wouldn’t survive long,” reads the emotional text overlay as footage pans across the ramshackle beachside shelter.
Chloe said that the mother dog appeared to be in distress, suffering from a large tumor and receiving no support from the hotel where she lingered.

Despite pushback from staff, including harassment and the expulsion of a kindhearted vet from the premises, Chloe and their travel companions refused to give up. They ensured the dog was fed and her puppies stayed cool while advocating for medical treatment. Eventually, the vet was allowed back to administer lifesaving care.
However, once Chloe’s group left, they were devastated to learn from other tourists that the mother dog had allegedly been poisoned, leaving the puppies abandoned and at risk.
With time running out, the team scrambled to find a local shelter. One puppy was found lifeless, but three others were saved by Lucky Dog—Djerba Dog Rescue, who bottle-fed them back to health. Chloe said they named the surviving pups Cara, Sunny, and Lucky Boy.
“Thanks to many donations, we were able to support the shelter where they received excellent care. But it didn’t end there, the lovely couple who helped rescue them decided to adopt the pups,” the message read.

The text continued: “After months and months of waiting the moment we’d all been waiting for finally came. It was a deeply emotional yet incredibly beautiful reunion with the dogs. Then it was time for them to fly to their forever home in Germany. They made it safely to Germany, their forever home. From the hot sands of Djerba to the warmth of a family couch. Ready for a lifetime of adventures.”
The story resonated deeply with TikTok users, many of whom shared emotional responses in the comments.
“It’s so sad that so many of these babies are suffering around the world. We just watch them to suffer and yes you are right if we can be their voice at least some of them could have a better life. Thank you so much for your kindness I can’t be grateful enough what you did for these babies. Hope fur mom is safe and in peace now,” wrote one user.
“Many years ago we were in Djerba. It’s beautiful to see what you’ve done. God bless you,” commented Sonja.
“I watched this video through tears, thank you so much to you wonderful caring people who saved those fur babies, it breaks my heart that you weren’t able to save their Mum but a small mercy that she isn’t in pain,” added Rachel.
“That’s the most saddest story—a happy ending but a very sad story. I can’t stop crying but I’m thankful this was a path you was meant to cross. Now you have a beautiful family of dogs,” said another commenter.
“Such a sad story but also a happy one too, and it’s incredibly kind of you to take all 3 pups. They will all get so much love. Poor mummy though—awful people to do that to her in time of need,” posted another.
