Stray dogs euthanized after attacking CCISD livestock animals

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Animal Care Service officers euthanized two stray dogs after a pack attacked a livestock barn at CCISD on Feb. 11. According to the city, a breach in the fence allowed six stray dogs to enter the barn, where they attacked three sheep and two goats. One sheep was killed, and another was euthanized due to severe injuries, along with one goat.

ACS captured two of the dogs but was unable to trap the remaining four, despite setting up traps in the area. Officers will continue to patrol for the other animals. One of the captured dogs bit an ACS officer, while the second failed a temperament test.

The city defended ACS’s actions, noting that posting impounded animals on the ‘Petconnect’ platform is a standard practice for municipal shelters, including those in cities like Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. This helps owners reclaim lost animals or face citations. However, the city clarified that just because an animal appears on Petconnect does not mean it is available for adoption.

ACS followed standard procedures in this case, according to the city’s statement.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
