Shelter dogs and an assisted living facility? Best idea ever. Two adoptable dogs from Brookhaven Animal Rescue League put smiles on residents at Diversicare’s assisted living facility this week.
Dottie, a black-and-white coated female, and Bingo, a friendly beagle mix, spent the day making new friends, soaking up affection, and spreading smiles. Both pups are currently available for adoption at BARL, and their visit served as a reminder of the healing power of animals—not just for people, but for the dogs too.
“This kind of outing is so special,” said a BARL volunteer. “It lifts the spirits of the residents and gives our dogs a much-needed break from the shelter environment. It’s a win for everyone.”
The visit is part of BARL’s ongoing effort to match loving pets with the perfect homes—while also creating positive moments in the community.
