Statue honoring working military dogs to be unveiled

A statue honoring dogs who assist soldiers in the line of duty is set to be unveiled Saturday afternoon.

The War Dog Memorial, which will reside at the Rhode Island Veteran’s Cemetery in Exeter, was crafted by A. Thomas Schomberg.

Schomberg is the artist behind the famous “Rocky” statue at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The 18-foot bronze statue will be unveiled in a special ceremony Saturday. Schomberg, RI Veterans Services Director Kasim Yarn, organizer George Panichas, and Ruth Gordon with Delmyra Kennels in Exeter are set to deliver remarks.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
