CHARLESTON — Jayden Bryant had the hot hand to begin the state tournament for Williamstown.
The Yellowjacket sharpshooter was 4 for 8 from the 3-point line and finished with a game-high 27 points to lead WHS to a 74-39 victory over Buffalo in Tuesday’s Class AA state quarterfinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. Bryant also contributed three assists and three blocks for the ‘Jackets, who led 29-7 after one, 54-14 at halftime and 68-29 after three.
Cruz Isaly contributed 14 points and five assists for Williamstown while Tyler Keiser double-doubled off the bench with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Parker Schramm added 10 points, seven rebounds, three dimes and three steals.
Wyatt Powell registered seven boards and three steals while Lynken Joy pulled down eight rebounds.
Williamstown, which improved to 20-3, will take on either Wyoming East or Logan at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in the state semifinals.

Buffalo (10-15) was paced by Asher Flanery’s 18 points. Caleb Cales added seven points and three assists, Nathan Harris grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with three steals and Wesley Mallett finished with nine boards, as did Braxton Mitchell.
The Bison finished 25.4% (17 for 67) from the floor while the Yellowjackets were 42.3% (30 for 71).
WestSide 83,
Doddridge County 53
Kaiden Vance scored a game-high 26 points on 9 of 15 shooting, including a red-hot 6 for 8 from beyond the arc, to help lift WestSide past Doddridge County 83-53 in Tuesday’s Class AA state quarterfinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
Colton Lester added a 15-point, 10-rebound double-double while Austin Bishop tallied 14 points and seven boards and Bryson Blankenship finished with 11 points and nine rebounds as four Renegades finished in double figures.
WHS shot 54.4% (31 for 57) from the floor and were 50% (12 for 24) from deep. The Renegades led 20-12 after one, 37-21 at halftime and 64-37 after three. They improved to 17-5 and will take on Wheeling Central at 11:15 a.m. Thursday in the semis.
DCHS wraps up the 2024-25 campaign with a 20-5 record. The Bulldogs, who finished 31.8% (21 for 66) from the floor Tuesday, only committed 14 turnovers to WestSide’s 19, but were out-rebounded 42-35.
Josh Dehaven paced Doddridge with 20 points. Landon Thomas added 13 points. Jaden Solomon didn’t score but had team-highs of seven boards and four blocks. Brysen Dixon paced the ‘Dogs with four assists and four steals.
Wheeling Central 80,
Ritchie County 27
Eli Sancomb scored a game-high 22 points while Tyler Dean added 21 points while going 5 for 5 from 3-point land as Wheeling Central routed Ritchie County 80-27 in Tuesday’s Class AA state quarterfinals at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center.
The Maroon Knights, who improved to 22-2 and will take on WestSide at 11:15 a.m. Thursday in the semis, also got nine points from Luke Sancomb and eight from Max Olejasz. Olejasz grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds while Eli Sancomb pulled down 11 to go along with six assists, four steals and two blocks.
Ritchie, which finishes 17-8, got 24 of its 27 points from two players. Rhett Johnson posted a team-high 15 points while Isaac Hodges added nine. Hodges also finished with nine rebounds and three blocks. The Rebels were 10 for 46 (21.7%) from the floor compared to 31 for 60 (51.7%) for Central.
The Knights led 23-8 after one, 51-17 at halftime and 63-25 headed to the fourth.
