New York State Police

HERKIMER, N.Y. — An animal welfare complaint at an apartment on St. Rt. 5 in Herkimer has resulted in charges.

On March 27, New York State Police were called to assist a Humane Society investigator in Herkimer County.

When troopers arrived, they found two dead dogs confined within closed crates.

The apartment had been abandoned.

Troopers gathered information that identified the animals’ owners.

As a result, on April 29, NYSP arrested Joseph A. Warney, 30, and Emma E. Trask, 44, both from Utica.

They were each charged with:

  • Two counts of failure to provide proper sustenance,
  • Two counts of neglect of an impounded animal, and
  • Two counts of disposal of dead animals.

Warney and Trask are scheduled to appear in the Town of Herkimer Court on May 13 at 6 p.m.

The investigation is still ongoing.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
