A Springfield man is facing charges after he allegedly tried to force a woman into his vehicle last week, but she escaped by fighting him off.

Bobby R. Childers, 37, is charged with the class E felony of third-degree assault and third-degree kidnapping, a misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause statement, officers were dispatched around 9 p.m. Nov. 11 to the 800 block of South Broadway Avenue in reference to an assault.

The woman told police she was walking her dogs near Missouri Avenue and Madison Street when a vehicle pulled up behind her. She said she heard the door open and a man she recognized as Childers called her name.

Woman ran home and called 911

According to the statement, she said she ignored Childers and walked away, but he ran up to her and started yelling at her. The woman said Childers grabbed her by the wrist and tried to pull her toward his vehicle. She said she fought back and managed to get away. She said she ran home and called 911.

She told the detective she believed the man was using an unknown item to pull her because her left wrist had a red ring around it and there were scratches on her forearm. The detective described the injuries on her forearm as a “friction burn.”

According to the statement, the woman said she had no prior relationship with Childers and that “he was just known from the neighborhood.”

A warrant for Childers’ arrest was issued on Tuesday.

Childers is scheduled to be in a Greene County courtroom on Nov. 25 for an unrelated case in which he is charged with the class E felony of resisting arrest for a felony.

The probable cause statement says Childers has been arrested and/or convicted in the past of violent crimes, including domestic assault and sexual assault. He does not have an attorney listed for this case.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
