Everyone loves Bernese Mountain Dogs until it’s time to get in the car. Just ask one dog dad, who documented the struggle to get his “spoiled” Berner in his vehicle. The pup didn’t help her dad one bit, despite her huge size.
Poor guy. He was all ready to take his dog Luna on a ride for him, but forgot one thing — Luna is a bit of a passenger princess.
Some dogs jump right in when you open the car door, but that’s not really Luna’s style. As a video on her dad’s TikTok page shows, the Bernese Mountain Dog wasn’t exactly volunteering to get into the car by herself. And her dad was so bummed when he realized that if he was going to bring Luna along, he was going to have to pick her up and place in the backseat.

“Oh NO,” he said, after looking down and seeing Luna staring up at him expectantly.
But a dog dad’s gotta do, what a dog dad’s gotta do.
“Not again,” he wrote in the text overlay. “My spoiled girl.”
People in the comments section didn’t know what the man was on about — his dog allowed him to do all the work and he should be honored. “She DID put her right paw forward!” one commenter pointed out. “She’s like, ‘I’m going to put in zero effort, Dad,'” someone else joked. “She’s the cutest little hernia maker,” teased another person. “I just hurt my back watching you! Lol,” another commenter admitted.
How Big Do Bernese Mountain Dogs Get?
Large dogs with big personalities, many people are curious about Bernese Mountain Dogs’ size. How big can these pups truly get? They’re certainly larger than most domestic dogs out there. Male Berners can be anywhere from 25 to 27.5 inches tall. While females usually range from 23 to 26 inches in height.
These dogs are also heavy (as you can see). Male dogs typically weigh between 80 and 115 lbs., while females weigh 70 to 95 lbs.
Berners were built to be strong and power dogs, made for hard work. And their size reflects that. But don’t let their stature fool you. No matter how big your Berner is, they’ll most likely be a big softy inside. These dogs have sweet, affectionate natures and are eager to please their owners. They’re even great family dogs and make the best of pets.
We guess the only downside to owning a Bernese Mountain Dog would be car rides. Something tells us that Luna isn’t the only one to ask for the royal treatment when getting into the car.
