GREENVILLE, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) – Just in time for summer, the Greenville Zoo is welcoming some new additions.
Zoo officials said two African painted dog sisters named Bailey and Parker were brought to the Upstate on April 24 from a safari park in Ohio.
The dogs are highly social but endangered and they are native to sub-Saharan Africa, according to the zoo.

“These have honestly been one of the top animals I wanted to work with so it’s like a dream come true,” said animal care specialist Sierra Stine. “My inner little Sierra is just ecstatic about this so this is gonna be amazing. They’re really smart and really food-motivated so we’re just excited to get to start working with them!”
Zoo staff said female African painted dogs are more known as the leaders of the pack. Bailey is more of the alpha, where as Parker likes to usually follow Bailey.
