Somerset County Humane Society considers expansion to shelter more dogs

PORTLAND (WGME) – The Somerset County Humane Society is considering building a new shelter.

In the past few years, the society has seen the number of dogs they care for grow, and now their shelter is overcrowded and out of room.

Currently, it’s supposed to hold about 13 dogs, but it often has up to 20 under its roof.

“We actually have a total of 18 if you count the puppies, not to mention the mother and the seven puppies that we got out to foster yesterday,” Somerset Humane Society Administrative Coordinator Louise Goeman said. “So as of yesterday, in house, we were well over capacity, we spend the whole day trying to shuffle around dogs.”

They say they hope to build more space on their current property that would allow them to shelter close to 30 dogs.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
