BAY VILLAGE, Ohio — Summer fun went to the dogs Sunday (Aug. 18) as the Bay Village Foundation and BAYarts hosted “Bark in the Park.”
The event was a fundraiser to support the maintenance of the new Bay Village Dog Kennel and BAYarts’ free community programming.
It featured live music and food trucks, along with a “Pooch Parade” and many tents featuring information on topics such as pet rescues and services.
There were also pet raffle baskets and kids’ crafts.

A large number of people crowded around the tent that was handing out free samples for both cats and dogs. The bags included many little gifts, plus samples of pet foods.
Attendance was high on such a sunny day. Hundreds parked in the nearest BAYarts field and walked their pets (mostly very large pets) all around the pathways.
The Bay Village Foundation was also in a tent of their own, as they showed visitors their literature on all they do in the city.
According to their website, the Bay Village Foundation’s sole purpose is “to give back, promote community happenings and spread charitable giving for future generations. Through the foundation, residents and businesses are encouraged to perpetuate the traditions that make Bay Village a special place to live, work and play.”
If the high number of attendees at Bark in the Park is any measure, it proves that Bay Village is, indeed, a special place (especially for pets).
