Some Houston-area dogs are loving the snow! Others? Not so much. Check out videos and photos!

HOUSTON — It’s a scene straight out of a holiday movie: Southeast Texas blanketed in snow, a rare spectacle for the city known more for its sweltering summers than its frosty winters. But it wasn’t just the people enchanted by the magical winter wonderland: dogs across the Houston area had a blast, many experiencing snow for the first time. Others didn’t quite know what to make of the mysterious white stuff.

Experts warn against keeping them out too long because the snow and ice can cause discomfort on their paws. The smaller breeds or those with short fur also shouldn’t stay out too long without being bundled up.

Thanks to all of the KHOU 11 viewers who shared these fun photos and videos! Send your snow videos and photos to newstips@khou.com or upload them in the Near Me section of our KHOU 11 app. Please include your name and location and permission to use on-air and online. If you didn’t take it, we need permission from whoever did.

Apollo, who belongs to KHOU 11 digital team member Sammy Turner, loved playing in the snow in the Klein area! And he left behind a little yellow snow, lol! Thanks to Abigail Noah for the video.

Lani went outside and ran back in when he saw the snow! He had to be coaxed back out to explore it.

Later, a naughty Lani stole his owner’s hat and ran through the snow!

We also got video of a couple of cats in the snow but they were NOT having it, lol.

Niko Piva in Houston took one look at the snow and headed back inside!

It was claws out when his owner tried to put Usnavi down in the Midtown snow!  The kitty was much happier indoors on his heated blanket.

This cardinal from Michelle Pettigrew may think the snow is for the birds!

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
