Northport police officers are actively looking for those responsible for six dogs left unattended and chained to a house with no water or food.
Investigators said they responded to a house off of Martin Luther King Blvd. on August 7th and found the dogs dead on the rental property.
The call came from a maintenance worker who found the dogs after those responsible for leasing the house was evicted for failure to pay rent.
“They just up and left like everything is still here like clothes, couches beds, dressers, TVs, everything is still here. The condition of the house is horrible,” said unnamed source.
We did speak with one source who saw the dogs on the scene, at this time they wish to remain anonymous, but tells ABC 3340 the conditions in which the animals were found is heartbreaking.
“The shape they were in you could not tell what the dog looks like, but you can clearly tell it’s a dog, the structure and his bones. It was just very gruesome”.
Northport police said they cannot locate those responsible for the crime, however it’s only a matter of time before an arrest is made.

ABC 3340 reached out to the realty company that owns the property in question.
Kevin Pake, owner of Pake Realty released a statement to our newsroom which reads in part:
“We at Pake Realty are both shocked and angered by this sad story of animal cruelty. We had no indication that the tenant had abandoned this rental property and upon witnessing the evidence of this horrible crime, we notified the authorities. It is our wish that those in authority allow the law to take its due course and that the perpetrator of this crime is apprehended and punished”.
This crime is considered a felony, those responsible are facing aggravated animal cruelty charges.
