The backstory:

In a shocking case of animal hoarding, authorities in Coweta County recently seized over 150 dogs from the home of John and Paula Palm. Acting on a tip, officials discovered the couple living in their car with a dog, while dozens more were found in other vehicles and an outside pen. The interior of the home was in a dire state, with the floor covered in several inches of feces, some of which appeared to be months old. Tragically, some of the dogs were found dead, and others were too ill to be saved.

What we know:

Following the raid, all of the rescued dogs have been placed with rescue groups for rehoming. Royal Animal Refuge in Fayette County is currently caring for 14 of these dogs, including Paddington, the youngest of the group. Becky Smith, Director of Royal Animal Refuge, described the situation as “the worst that I’ve ever seen.” The dogs at Royal are reportedly in good health, and volunteers are diligently working on their house training. All 14 dogs are available for adoption, and the refuge is actively raising funds for their veterinary care, which includes spaying or neutering and heartworm testing for the older dogs.
