TRINITY COUNTY, Texas — Eight dogs were seized from a property in Trinity County after their owner was arrested for alleged cruelty towards animals.
According to Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace, deputies were dispatched on Dec. 24 to Elephant Walk for multiple dogs loose in the area. Deputies found two dogs in the roadway in front of a house, where several dogs on chains were observable from the roadway.

Wallace said the dogs were severely malnourished and a dog in a small kennel without any kind of shelter. After checking around the house to make contact with their owner, another dog was found chained up with no food or water in “very poor condition,” while more dogs could be heard in the house.
Call history showed the owner, Christopher James Rod, was warned about having the animals held improperly on chains and instructed how to provide proper shelter and care for the animals.
Wallace said Rod was taken into custody, though did resist arrest. Eight dogs were removed from the property. Rod has been charged with several animal abuse charges.
