GREENE COUNTY, Tenn. (WCYB) — Last week, authorities found 31 animals living in a small mobile home, with the inside covered in feces and urine.
One puppy ended up dying and the house has since been condemned. The homeowner is facing charges.
We’re now learning more about the condition of the animals.
The shelter manager at the Greeneville-Greene County Humane Society, Janet Medcalf, says the dogs were infested with fleas, had overgrown nails, and were not up-to-date on vaccinations.
But, she says once they got the proper care for the most part they just needed a chance to decompress.
Rebecca Pepin got to spend time with one of the pups involved in a hoarding case, who just gave birth to seven puppies.
Shelter leaders added that the dogs, mostly Terrier mixes, will be available for adoption once they’ve been spayed and neutered.
They are already taking applications.
