Christmas came early this year for Tessa, Tarz, Stevie and dozens of other adoptable dogs at the Save-A-Dog Scheme, Inc. animal shelter in Victoria, Australia. Each may be waiting to find a forever home to call their own, but their caretakers still found a way to get their tails wagging in the meantime.
Last week, shelter staff decided to surprise their hopeful pups with an array of presents to choose from — allowing them to pick out their own favorite toys.
It might sound like a simple gesture, but the look of joy on the dogs’ faces couldn’t be more priceless.
One by one, some with great care, and others, unbridled enthusiasm, each dog’s unique personality was put on display in the fun-filled activity.

Though the presents are certainly welcome additions to the lives of these shelter pups, the greatest gifts of all would be for each of them to be adopted into homes full of warmth and joy. As the staff at Save-A-Dog Scheme, Inc. writes:
“We’re all just doing our best to give them the love they deserve, and we hope each one finds their forever family soon.”
