
A severely dehydrated and malnourished puppy who was recently transported to the Animal Rescue League of Boston from a shelter in Mississippi after suffering from neglect is ready for a new home in Massachusetts. Nutella, an 11-month-old mixed-breed puppy, was rescued from a property in Mississippi in early February along with seven other dogs. He was living in unsanitary conditions and weighed just 12 pounds. The owner of the dogs was charged with cruelty to animals.The neglect and malnourishment he endured greatly stunted his growth and required him to be placed on a refeeding plan to gain weight safely and slowly. When he was healthy enough to be moved, he was brought to the ARL as part of a transport of dogs through the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ Animal Relocation Program.Nutella, who now weighs over 20 pounds, will be neutered and receive intense dental care before being made available for adoption.
