LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Several dogs were rescued last week from a “serious hoarding situation” at a home in Buffalo County.
In a post on Facebook on Wednesday, the Kearney Area Animal Shelter said it received a call from the sheriff’s office “that no shelter ever wants to receive.”
While serving an eviction notice, deputies uncovered a hoarding situation with dogs living in “extremely poor conditions.”
Among those dogs were six puppies found in a dark basement. The animal shelter said they had never seen sunlight until being rescued.
All of the dogs have “some sort of infection, mass, or medical issue” that needs to be addressed, according to the shelter.
The shelter is now asking for people to support them, as taking in this many dogs at once is “overwhelming.”
They’re asking for donations to help with medical treatment and people interested in adopting the dogs.
“These dogs have been through so much,” the shelter said. “Help us give them the second chance they deserve.”
The shelter said it’s unknown when the dogs will be put up for adoption, but they will post updates on their website.
