Several dogs, including a litter of puppies, die during mobile home fire in south Phoenix

Several dogs, including a new litter of puppies, died in a mobile home fire Friday morning.

Crews from the Phoenix Fire Department extinguished a fast-moving mobile home fire near South 40th Street and East Baseline Road. There was a large column of smoke and fire coming from within the home.

The homeowner was outside alerting fire crews there were numerous family dogs still inside the home, Phoenix Fire Department Captain Rob McDade said.

According to Phoenix fire, firefighters were able to rescue four of the dogs. Unfortunately a new litter of puppies and “several other dogs” died in the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but investigators were on location. According to Phoenix fire, crews noticed multiple space heaters in the home.

Several dogs were killed in a mobile home fire in South Mountain on Friday morning.

Members of the Phoenix community assistance program are providing support to the homeowners. No injuries were reported and crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby homes.
