CLINTON, Conn. — Clinton firefighters found several dogs dead after a house fire Saturday evening, according to town Fire Chief Brian Manware.
The residents were not at the home at the time of the fire and no firefighters were hurt, Manware said.
The Clinton Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at 6:25 p.m. Saturday about the fire at a home on Glenwood Road. A passerby reported smoke and flames coming from the back of the home.
Arriving firefighters found a fire that was quickly consuming the entire back of the home. Manware noted a nearby propane tank that vented after it was exposed to the heat from the fire.
Firefighters brought the fire under control within 35 minutes and worked at the scene for three hours, placing multiple hose lines inside and outside the home, Manware said.
They searched the home and found several dogs that died. It is currently unclear how many dogs were found.
The Clinton Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
