HOUSTON – A Houston woman may be spending the holidays behind bars after police say she locked a seven-year-old relative underneath her Christmas tree in a dog cage.
The little girl was reportedly restrained and beaten in the alleged attack that took place inside her apartment on Dixie Drive just off Old Spanish Trail.
On Sunday, a magistrate set bond for Rose Anderson at $10,000, and she’s still here in the jail tonight.
Court documents state she’s a single mom who works three jobs.
A form of discipline so dark that neighbors like Lonnie Hatchet can’t wrap their minds around it.
“It was strange to me,” neighbor Lonnie Hatchet said. “What happened to Time Out?”
Hatchet’s neighbor, Rose Anderson, appeared before a Harris County magistrate Sunday.
Accused of locking a seven-year-old relative inside a dog cage beneath their Christmas tree for hours on end.
Without access to food, water, or a bathroom, forcing the little girl to urinate on herself.
“The victim was zip-tied, and her mouth was duct taped,” court records allege.
When restrained, Anderson reportedly kicked the girl. Court documents state the alleged attack was punishment for the child’s behavior at school.
“Take away one of the Christmas gifts, but not the dog cage, come on,” Hatchet said.
