Police said the dog was not classed as a dangerous breed and was removed from the home and destroyed. No further details of its breed have been disclosed.

The police statement said: “A seven-month-old baby girl had received serious injuries to her head after being bitten by the family’s dog inside the home.

“She received treatment at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital for further treatment. Tragically, she died a short time later. Our thoughts remain with her family at this devastating time.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
