A senior dog has left the internet teary-eyed after their owner shared a moving glimpse into their daily life.
Jessica (@jessladky) posted a heartfelt video of her 17-year-old white dog stumbling around her home in search of her. The touching footage, which garnered 90,300 likes and 640,500 views on TikTok, resonated deeply with pet lovers across the platform.
“You think you know sad? Just wait until your dog turns 17 and spends their entire day trying to find you over and over again,” she wrote in the overlay text of the video.
The clip begins with Jessica looking somber as she reflects on her dog’s aging process. It then cuts to the little dog making his way into the kitchen, his wobbly legs carrying him as quickly as they can.
“This little guy has been hanging so tightly on to life. I just wish I could give him more healthy years,” she captioned the post.
Caring for an Aging Dog
As dogs age, their needs change significantly. Senior dogs benefit from routine vet check-ups, comfortable and warm sleeping areas, and plenty of affection, according to the RSPCA. Owners are encouraged to watch for changes in behavior, appetite, and mobility, all of which may indicate underlying health issues.
Memory loss is also common in elderly dogs. PetMD explains that while dogs can remember familiar people and routines, cognitive decline in senior years can lead to disorientation, confusion, and separation anxiety—often prompting behaviors like pacing or repeatedly trying to find their owner.
When it comes to life expectancy, PetMD notes that on average dogs live 10 to 15 years depending on size, with smaller pooches tending to outlive larger breeds.
However, each dog ages differently, and quality of life is more important than age alone.

“As long as he’s eating, blood work good and vet visits good he’s fine. He’s just blind and deaf yall. Y’all saying it’s his time. He’s blind and older. He’s adorable btw,” said one user.
“Wear him in a pet sling. He just wants to be close to you,” suggested another.
“My dog’s 13 and he’s struggling to walk now it’s killing me slowly watching my best friend fade away,” shared another commenter.
“He’s beautiful. Thanks for giving him so much to live longer for. I know how tough this feels, sending hugs from a stranger,” wrote Jen.
“Sometimes I get annoyed when my dog follows me everywhere but I know he won’t be earthside forever,” added Cecilia.
