BELLEVUE, Wash. – Sixty cats and dogs from Los Angeles County animal shelters will fly into Boeing Field this afternoon.
Seattle Humane is partnering with Wings of Rescue and Paws 4 Life K9 Rescue to bring in the arrivals, to help animals impacted by wildfires burning in Los Angeles.
“[It’s] going to free up a number of shelters down there in the Los Angeles area to absorb some of the displaced pets in the wildfires,” said Brandon Macz, PR & Social Media Specialist for Seattle Humane.
After this shipment of rescues lands in Washington, Macz says they’ll undergo health checkups and will hopefully be ready to be adopted by Tuesday.
A special icon will mark kennel cards and photos on Seattle Humane’s adoption page to identify rescues from Los Angeles.
“A lot of people step up, they really like helping pets that have the greatest need, and there’s no greater need right now than these pets who are coming out of terrible conditions,” said Macz.
More information on how to donate, foster and other ways to help Seattle Humane’s efforts can be found online.
