The Portland Sea Dogs are set to play their first home game of the season on Tuesday, as they host the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.The Sea Dogs started the 2025 campaign with a three-game sweep of the Reading Fightin Phils on the road in Pennsylvania.”It was just a lot of fun baseball and made us even more excited to come back to Portland,” said Emma Tiedemann, Sea Dogs director of broadcasting and the team’s play-by-play announcer.Portland will look to keep the momentum going in their first homestand since their venue changed its name from Hadlock Field to Delta Dental Park at Hadlock Field.”You don’t have to like baseball to have a good time here,” said Sea Dogs vice president of communications Chris Cameron.”We work so hard during the offseason to get going for the season, so this is a culmination of all that hard work,” said Sea Dogs president Geoff Iacuessa. “It’s always great to get opening day in and get into our routine for the season.”Sea Dogs fans will see some new players in the fold this season, as Kristian Campbell is now starting for the Boston Red Sox and fellow top prospects Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer started the season in Triple-A.Tiedemann said one player to keep an eye on this year is center fielder Jhostynxon Garcia, who is nicknamed “The Password” based on the spelling of his first name. “He led the Red Sox minor leaguers last season in home runs. He just hammers the baseball and is also really great in the outfield, so definitely one to watch,” Tiedemann said.The home opener will also bring some festivities that the Sea Dogs say fans do not want to miss.”Opening day is a rite of passage for a baseball fan. You’ve got to come out to the ballpark, support the team,” Cameron said.”You get a fantastic show from Slugger every single night,” Tiedemann said. “Sea Dog Biscuits, I mean, even if it’s a little chilly those are still fantastic.”There is also a new parking option for fans. The University of Southern Maine parking garage at 88 Bedford St. is now available for Sea Dogs game parking for just $3, making it the cheapest pay-to-park option. The garage is about a 12-minute walk from the ballpark.”We know parking can be a challenge for fans, so we want to ease that as much as possible and really create fan experience from the time you park your car to the very last second of the game,” Cameron said.First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday. Right-hander Yordanny Monegro is set to make his first start as a Sea Dogs player.
