
BINGHAMTON, NY (WBNG) — The Rumble Ponies offense got out of the gates in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings, scoring 6 of the team’s 7 runs to win the final game of the series against Portland.
Binghamton’s Kevin Parada tripled in the bottom of the second, before Stanley Consuegra brought home Parada to open up the scoring. Wyatt Young added two more runs with a single to right field to give Binghamton the 3-0 lead after 2 innings.
A Ryan Clifford solo home run, and another RBI from Consuegra pushed the Ponies lead to 5-0. Clifford finished the afternoon 3 for 3 with 2 RBI, adding another in the 6th inning off a single.
The Sea Dogs scored twice in the 4th inning, but Binghamton Starter Joander Suarez proved to be too much, striking out 7 batters over 5 innings pitched. Suarez got his eighth win of the season.
Binghamton improved to 57-54 on the year, but more importantly 22-22 for the second half of the Eastern League season. The Ponies are currently 9 games back of Portland for the final playoff spot.
The Rumble Ponies next host the Reading Fightin’ Phils as part of the team’s season long 13 game homestand. First pitch on Tuesday, August 20th is scheduled for 6:35pm.
