RSPCA opens shop and welfare hub to support dogs like Luna

The RSPCA has opened a new charity shop in Lincoln to help raise money to support its animals.

The charity currently has 21 cats and seven dogs in its care, including three-year-old Luna, who has been waiting to be rehomed for nearly a year.

The charity said the German shepherd Luna arrived at the RSPCA in 2024 “neglected and underweight”.

The store is the third shop run by the charity in Lincolnshire, and includes a welfare hub to host community and fundraising events.

Shop manager Emily Knapp said: “The team has been working round the clock to get our new shop ready and I cannot thank everyone enough for all their efforts.

“All the money raised from our shop will be used to help animals in need in the Lincolnshire area covered by our branch.”

Ms Knapp, who hopes a new home will be found for Luna, said: “Luna is a magnificent dog, she has been through a lot of hardship but there is a wonderful temperament under all the fear, she absolutely loves humans and needs some TLC.”

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
