Roy Police catch 3 ‘vicious’ dogs after 2 bit in park

ROY, Utah (ABC4) — Roy police captured three dogs who were reportedly acting “vicious”, biting two people at a park, as well as attacking horses and police.

On Monday, June 17, around 4 p.m. Roy Police received a report about three dogs being aggressive and trying to “get at” a child at Emma Russell Park, a release said.

Police said while en route, officers received multiple calls about individuals at the park being bitten by the dogs. When officers arrived, they found the three dogs in a pasture on the west side of the park and observed they were “being aggressive and attacking horses in the pasture.”

It was later discovered two people at the park were bitten in the “lower extremities.” Details on the victims and the severity of their injuries have not been released.

Officials said that while officers attempted to contain the dogs with a catch pole, the dogs reportedly attempted to attack officers twice. Police were able to safely capture one dog with the catch pole.

While officers tried to keep the other two dogs contained in the pasture, one of the dogs reportedly attempted to attack an officer who then applied a “bean bag” round, hitting the dog and stopping the attack.

According to police, the injured dog then ran back to its owner’s nearby home. Police said they were able to contact a resident at the home, who assisted officers in locating the third at-large dog. Officers confirmed all three dogs were being kept at this residence.

Police said the injured dog was taken to a nearby veterinarian emergency room by Roy City Animal Control, and the two uninjured dogs were taken to the Weber County Animal Shelter for the required 10-day quarantine.

Police said the two victims who were bitten received medical attention and were interviewed by investigators. The case remains active with Roy police saying the dog owners could be subject to criminal charges.

“Our priority is the safety of the citizens of Roy City and their freedom to feel safe in public areas and parks. Dog owners do have a responsibility to ensure their dogs are properly controlled at all times and licensed with Roy City Animal Control,” police said.

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
