ROME, N.Y. — A woman from Rome has been charged with misdemeanor failure to provide adequate sustenance for a dog.
On May 14, shortly after noon, units from the Rome Police Department were notified of a potential animal cruelty case by the Humane Society of Rome.
The complaint involved a dog currently in their care.
“The dog had a significant leg injury that appeared to have been neglected,” according to RPD.
The investigation revealed that the dog suffered from injuries, including a broken jaw and a severely fractured leg.
“The injuries to the dog’s leg were so severe it required amputation,” RPD continued.
Carrie J. Bush was determined to have failed in providing the necessary treatment for the dog.
On June 2, the 32-year-old was arrested and charged.
While in custody, Bush was also found in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, leading to an additional charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Bush has since been released, pending a future court date.
