Basked by long hours of daylight from our solar system’s local star, astronomers, scientists, and star enthusiasts converged in Anchorage for one of the largest astronomical gatherings in the world.
The 264th meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) which started in Anchorage on June 8th, brought curious minds and astronomical experts to the 49th state to share research, collaborate with colleagues and expand understanding of the universe.
“It’s just absolutely gorgeous. Now that the sun is out, it’s been absolutely gorgeous to be out here on the terrace, you know, looking over the mountains and everything,” said AAS President Dara Norman.
“It’s a great place to work. It’s very inspirational for astronomy and for just thinking about, you know, the sun and the cosmos and the universe.
“So yeah, we really enjoyed being here.”
The conference concludes on Thursday, June 12.
