WARWICK – The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is once again hoping angry exes will support their Valentine’s Day fundraising campaign.
For a donation of $5, the RISPCA will write your former partner’s name on a toy heart filled with treats for the agency’s shelter dogs to “tear apart,” the agency announced Tuesday.
“It’s a win-win”,” the RISPCA said in announcing the fundraiser. “Our dogs get enrichment, and you get the satisfaction of throwing your ex to the dogs!”
Dogs really ‘Tearing Up My Heart’
This year’s “Tearing Up My Heart” fundraiser follows last year’s successful “Love Stinks” effort, which raised $8,000. That fundraiser gave donors the chance to put their exes’ names in cat litter boxes.
The RISPCA noted that donors are not limited to having names put on the hearts but can designate anything “that you want torn apart,” such as childhood cancer, depression or animal cruelty.
The donation amounts vary from $5 per name to $25 for one name plus a short video or $50 for five names and a video, the RISPCA said.
The “Tearing Up My Heart” campaign started Tuesday and will run until Valentine’s Day. For more information or to participate, visit rispca.org or directly at web.charityengine.net/TearingUpMyHeart.
