HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — The Rockingham Harrisonburg SPCA will host a special “Name Your Price” Dog Adoption Event on Saturday, June 14, to help find loving homes for dozens of dogs, including those recently rescued from a large-scale hoarding situation in Broadway.
In May, the RHSPCA took in a record number of animals — 134 dogs, 319 animals in total — including 58 dogs rescued from the hoarding case in Broadway. Many of these rescued dogs were adopted by their fosters and some transferred to rescue partner organizations. At least ten of these rescued dogs, along with 45 others will be available for adoption at the upcoming event.
“We saw an unprecedented number of dogs come into our care last month. The large group from the Broadway case strained our resources. But we persevered thanks to the dedication of our team and the compassion of our supporters. We’re hopeful the event will free up much needed space in the shelter and find these deserving dogs a loving home.” said Huck Nawaz, Executive Director at RHSPCA. The June 14 event will feature name your price adoptions for adult dogs — a significant savings from the standard adoption fees, which typically range from $150 for senior dogs to $250 for small breed dogs under 25 lbs. Puppies are excluded from the special pricing.
