REVIEW: Comet Dogs is a Surprising Winner in Celestial Park at Epic Universe

Celestial Park in Epic Universe has out of this world hot dogs available at the quick-service Comet Dogs kiosk.

Comet Dogs

Location

People walk near green pavilions and planters, perhaps stopping for a Comet Dogs snack, under a blue sky in the park.

Comet Dogs is located right next to Constellation Carousel.

People stand in line at an outdoor Comet Dogs ticket booth under a blue sky, near a green and yellow building.

The green kiosk matches the design of other small Celestial Park venues, although it is strangely nondescript with very little signage or theming.

Reviews

Five Comet Dogs with colorful toppings are arranged in black trays—perfect for a review-worthy gourmet experience.

Comet Dog – $12.99

Classic all-beef hotdog with chili, cheddar cheese, diced onions

A hand holds a Comet Dogs hot dog topped with ground beef and onions in a cardboard tray for review.

All of the dogs come on a wonderful griddled bread. You can taste the butter. As for the actual hot dog, it’s about the same caliber as Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom, but the toppings are better. The ground beef is good quality. There’s a tiny bit of spice. The crunch of the onion is nice. The cheese is melted just right.

Bulgogi Dog – $13.99

Kimchi slaw, salsa verde, yuzu aioli

A Comet Dogs hot dog topped with chopped vegetables and white sauce, served in a black paper tray. Review today!

Strangely, the rest of these hot dogs aren’t really hot dogs and this difference isn’t stated on the menu. They’re more like sausages and are a little grainy. And while you might expect this sausage to taste like Korean bulgogi, it doesn’t. That said, it’s not bad. It also has a nice spice and the slaw adds a crunch.

Al Pastor – $13.99

Grilled pineapple, pickled red onions, fresh jalapeño, salsa verde, micro cilantro

A Comet Dogs hot dog with pineapple, pickled onions, jalapeños, and greens served in a black tray—review this flavor combo!

The pineapple is fresh and crunchy. It’s the dominant element of this dog and it’s a nice refreshing addition. We like the spice of the jalapeño.

Philly Cheesesteak – $13.99

Peppers and onions blend with cheddar cheese sauce

A hand holds a Comet Dogs hot dog with onions, peppers, and mustard in a tray above maroon chairs.

This one was also a sausage and it was a bit dry. But the toppings helped work through that. They made for a delicious combination. It’s not special but it’s a good standard item to offer.

Rating out of 7: 6

Smoky Carrot Dog (Vegan) – $12.99

Slow roasted glazed carrot with vegan feta and micro cilantro inside an ube bun

A hand holds a Comet Dogs purple hot dog bun with sausage, cheese, and herbs in a black tray—REVIEW this unique snack!

This was surprisingly good. It’s obviously not a regular hot dog either, it’s a cooked carrot. And that carrot was amazing. It was smoky and tender. The feta tastes almost real and added a nice tangy flavor. The sweetness of the ube bun worked well with everything but it was unfortunately dry and doughy. That’s what brought our rating down.

Overall

This is a solid hot dog joint for a theme park. We might stop here and grab a dog when we’re in a rush. There’s no plain hot dog on offer, we expect that might be added at some point. But kudos to the food and beverage team for making interesting offerings and trying to elevate dishes instead of just offering regular theme park food.
