Rescue crews search for woman and dog who fell into Carbon River

The dog was found alive with the help of a drone about two miles down river from where they fell in, authorities say.

CARBONADO, Wash. — A multi-agency search involving over 20 personnel is underway for a woman who fell into the Carbon River with her dog on Sunday.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) said the call came in around noon from the woman’s boyfriend. He had to drive 10-15 minutes away from where the woman fell in to get cell service to make the call. He told deputies the woman and dog were gone when he got back.

Just before 2:40 p.m. Sunday, authorities said the dog was found alive with the help of a drone about two miles down river from where they fell in. Officials say the “point of entry” for the woman and the dog was Fairfax Bridge in Carbonado.

Deputies said it is a fast-flowing river and a complex area to traverse due to terrain.

PCSO said it was “still unsure” about the cause of the accident.

This is a developing story.

The Favicon for the website, dogsandpurses(dot)com, features an all-black background with a minimalist line drawing of a puppy's head poking out of a stylish purse. The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
