R&B singer Jaheim arrested, charged with abusing 6 dogs in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – An R&B singer was arrested after Fulton County police and animal control say they found several abused dogs in his RV.

Jaheim Hoagland, who performs as “Jaheim,” was booked in Fulton County Jail on May 1 and charged with six counts of animal cruelty. He was let go on a $35,000 bond a day later.

The investigation began on April 27, when animal control received a call about a large, malnourished dog wandering through the Buckhead Village District’s parking lot, according to the arrest warrant.

An animal control officer saw the dog tied up and left alone at the back of an RV, and a man, later identified as Hoagland, allegedly walked up to officers “in an aggressive manner,” saying they were on private property.

A day later, police and more animal control officers went back to the RV to speak with Hoagland, who they say filmed them and claimed harassment. He said his dog was skinny because it was young, but officers said when he let it out of its kennel, they saw the dog was “severely emaciated” with visible ribs.

The officers said they would return to reassess the dog and review veterinarian records — but the next day, someone reported another dog in poor condition.

On May 1, officers found Hoagland’s RV in the parking lot of Hyatt Centric Buckhead Atlanta. Officers obtained a search warrant and found several dogs inside the RV — three 10-week-old puppies, an 11-month-old brown hound, a 5-year-old pit bull and a brown French bulldog.

All the animals were kept inside kennels caked with urine and feces, according to the arrest affidavit, and no air was running through the RV. The puppies had overgrown nails, and the three other dogs were severely underweight, the report said.

It isn’t the first time Hoagland has been accused of animal cruelty. Police said he was charged with third-degree animal cruelty in a 2021 case out of Maryland, where 15 dogs were kept in “deplorable conditions.”

All the dogs from the RV have been taken to the animal shelter, police said.

The puppy's head is drawn with a cute and friendly expression, making it the focal point of the design. The purse, which the puppy is emerging from, is depicted with clean, elegant lines. The contrast between the black background and the white line drawing creates a striking and modern look for the Favicon.
